at Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church

Detroit Lakes United Methodist Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation. The name Stephen comes from St. Stephen, who was the first lay person commissioned by the apostles to provide caring ministry to those in need (as recorded in Acts 6). Check out the headquarters of Stephen Ministry at
In Stephen Ministry congregations, trained lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.  Stephen Ministry helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it. This program multiplies the amount of caring ministry we can provide by giving us a whole team of skilled caregivers who are equipped to bring Christ’s healing love to people in need.

We have been a Stephen Ministry congregation since 2004. During that time Stephen Ministers from our congregation as well as other churches in our area have been trained to provide effective, distinctly Christian care to individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

If you would like to request a Stephen Minister for your own needs or for someone you know, you may contact Rick Pechmann (contact information below).

If you are a good listener and a compassionate person, we ask that you prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister. If you have questions about Stephen Ministry or you would like to talk with a Stephen Leader about becoming a Minister yourself, please contact:
